The education system in the UK currently places a high value on knowledge, pace and the need to demonstrate immediate progress against identifiable and easily- measured outcomes.

However, we and many other education researchers challenge this approach, arguing space and time for open-ended learning is essential to developing engaged and happy learners.

In this session Gill, Emily, Stuart, Karen, Cathy and colleagues demonstrate how a playful approach to learning can be employed in any environment, even a university classroom.
